On behalf of searching parents, please hear this one parent’s heart who has prepared this site – it is not the intent of this site and related resources to pull control of the search from you. The intent of the content here is to provide a general resource and gathering of collective wisdom to preserve what scraps of information may exist for an adoptee before it is lost forever.
We have heard various perspectives from the adoptee community when it comes to searching. We honor these perspectives and many of us adoptive parents have had conflicted thoughts and feelings about searching. The rapid pace of information trails completely disappearing along with the double digit growth and construction rates in China, have prompted to some families to undertake the task of searching before the entire trail “goes cold.” A growing number of parents wish to address their adoptive child’s intense interest in locating their child’s birth family. In some cases, this child has been quite young (ages 4, for example) and parents have responded to an urgent, persistent desire of their child. Other prompts to being the search the search have not always been so intense, urgent or clear. The obstacles are many and the resources are few. This is a learning process and we hope to be of assistance to those in hopes of finding information in China. We invite you to add to the wisdom contained on these pages with further searching wisdom you have personally obtained, or to share feedback. You can send an email to info@chinafamilysearch.org . Thanks.
